ShopTalk: The Business of Graphic Design
Wednesday, April 18th
The University of Tulsa School of Art | Phillips Hall Room 301
Join local design heroes Justin Johnson (More branding), Jeff Savage (Savage Design) and Sarah Neal for another vivid discussion! This time we will be chatting about the buisness of graphic design, covering a wide range of topics that include: self promotion, pricing, staying competitive, the future of the industry, etc. What’s even better, free lunch provided by the University of Tulsa’s School of Art! Don’t miss this great opportunity to ask the tough questions and see what the professionals have to say. This is the stuff you won’t learn in school friends! We hope to see you there.

ShopTalk at TU
Our next ShopTalk takes place noon on Wednesday, November 9th at the University of Tulsa. Spend your lunch with Jeff Savage of Studio Savage and Tina Fincher from Cubic. Our next topic will be discussing what to expect when starting out your career in the design world. Grab your seat in Phillips Hall, Room 301, otherwise known as the Third Floor Design Room. Yes, it’s on the third floor. Hydrate first and you’ll be fine.
Space is limited and lunch is provided, so be sure to RSVP with eryn-sweeney-demezas@utulsa.edu by Thursday, November 8th.

About ShopTalk
We want to give everyone a chance to participate and be involved in our club. This is why this year we are starting a series of informal public discussions on all things creative. The idea is to gather at coffee houses and campuses in our area and create more opportunities for everyone to join in the conversation on whatever topic we choose for each session. The more we share ideas with each other, the higher the chances for making “something big” happen in our community.
We don’t want to make you wait a whole month to see your peers and get inspired by our awesome guest speakers. Why not get together more often, more casually and really dig deeper into the issues that affect us and our industry, the ideas we dream about or the projects we want to realize? … Everything from business issues to new production techniques, to defining the “Tulsa brand” is on the table for discussion topics. We want to create as many ShopTalk groups as possible and cater to their specific interests by paring up each group (and venue) with the more “experienced” members of our club that will serve as moderators for each discussion. We are currently coordinating wth our various College reps and local design/advertising/creative sutdios in order to determine when and where we will hold the first ShopTalk.
